Inclusion & pastoral care

At The English College, Dubai, students thrive in an inclusive environment where every voice matters. Here, they are empowered to overcome challenges - academic, social or emotional - with tailored support that meets their individual needs. Whatever the barrier, students are encouraged to grow in confidence and ability, unlocking their full potential in a setting that truly values diversity and belonging.

What does our inclusion support look like?

Our inclusion support is founded on care, collaboration and high expectations. We offer tailored strategies to meet the diverse needs of students of determination, English language learners and more able and talented pupils.

01
Student identification at admissions

Support begins from the outset of each student’s journey. Our admissions process identifies needs early so that appropriate provision is in place from day one.

02
Robust referral processes

Clear pathways enable timely intervention and provision, ensuring that no student’s needs are overlooked.

03
Ongoing monitoring and tracking

Regular assessment and progress reviews allow us to adapt provision as needed, ensuring every student makes sustained progress.

04
Parent collaboration

Parents are essential partners in the inclusion journey. Open communication, regular reviews and workshops help build strong home–school partnerships that support every student.

05

What does our pastoral care look like?

Led by the Head of Inclusion, our Inclusion Team works across the whole school to ensure every student is supported. We provide early intervention in EYFS and Primary, as well as specialist support in Secondary, to ensure that we can tailor our approach to each child’s needs. We collaborate closely with families to ensure smooth transitions and provide a safe space where students feel heard, valued and empowered to thrive.

More able and talented (MAT) programme

At our private British school in Dubai, students who show exceptional ability or special talents - whether academic or creative - are identified through CAT scores and teacher referrals and supported via our More Able and Talented (MAT) programme.

From Foundation Stage to Year 13, MAT students benefit from high-quality teaching, enrichment activities and personalised opportunities designed to challenge and inspire them beyond the curriculum. Provision is led and reviewed by our MAT Coordinator and Head of Inclusion.
